Recapping some of the key points about building kingdoms and finding high quality people:
FINDING NEW PEOPLE
- First know thy self: what path are you on? What are your goals? Most importantly, what are your VALUES?
- Identify which values are make-or-break for you (e.g. I cannot connect with someone who does not value being open - they don't have to be 'good' at it, but they do need to value it)
- Look for people who share the same WHY as you. The activity might be different, but if they do it for the same value-based reason as you, the connection will be more likely to happen
- Look for people 'better' than you; people you admire, respect and are inspired by
CREATING "KINGDOMS" - PLACES WHERE YOUR PEOPLE CAN FIND YOU
- Ask yourself, where would people with these values hang out? What would they do in their spare time?
- Go test these places and start Kingdom Building by initiating conversations with everyone there
- Turn individual activities you enjoy into group activities (e.g. going to the gym becomes bootcamp; reading becomes book club; self-development becomes Brojo)
- Increase the probability of meeting high quality people by attending events that require investment, like paid workshops, retreats and travel groups
- Start your own group, designed so that only people you consider to be high quality would want to attend (e.g. Brojo, cycling club, toastmasters)
EXAMPLES - Here are some values that translate into activities:
Courage - extreme sports, high-pressure social events like speed-dating, toastmasters, travel
Honesty - Brojo, science events, self-development seminars, therapeutic groups (e.g. NMMNG groups)
Passion - voluntary adult learning classes (e.g. languages, cooking), dancing, martial arts, entrepreneurship workshops
Presence - meditation seminars, yoga, neuroscience events
Ambition - career development seminars, leadership courses, any class that moves up through levels (e.g. competitive team sports, gaming enthusiasts)
ACTIONS
- list all your values, particularly highlight those you need to connect with other people
- create a list of possible places people with these values would congregate
- test these places as potential kingdoms
- brainstorm ideas for how you could create your own Kingdom through organising events and activities
