I was having this interesting talk with a female friend about Deida and various aspects of male/female relationships.
In particular how the “nice guy” problem manifests and why deep down it is unattractive to women.
We were looking at it from the perspective of male-female polarity, the yin/yang concept and how that polarisation is important.
And we came across this interesting theory that I wanted to bounce off of you guys.
This goes back to Dan's discussion on Monday regarding the art of discussion and connection, and how if one person shifts, the other person then has to shift to maintain the balance. And it also connects strongly with partner dance and the lead/follow dynamic.
Here’s the thinking…
Here’s the interesting corollary-
A female typically can’t control masculine energy. When she’s forced into a masculine role, that un-controlled energy expresses as anger.
A male typically can’t control feminine energy. When in a feminine role, that un-controlled energy expresses as depression.

- Guys have been actively de-polarised by the feminist movement. Taught that being “too much of a guy” is a bad thing, and is unattractive to women. So they move away from strong masculine behaviour and become more middle-ground, moving towards feminine behaviour.
- This forces the women they have relationships with to become more masculine, to balance that positioning.
- In an average case, you end up with two less-polarised people, who become friends as the attraction disappears. (polarity is essential for attraction).
- In more extreme cases, the male continues moving towards the feminine, motivated by ideals of the Metrosexual male, and the idea that some women go lesbian because “women make the best lovers”. These ideas have a strong impact on the young male psyche.
- In this more extreme case, the woman is actually forced to become more masculine than the male. The roles effectively reverse, and she's in the position of having to "lead" the dance.
